Members of a fraternity on Thursday entered into Oduduwa’s shrine and other sacred forests to perform further rites on the transition of the Ooni of Ife, Oba Okunade Sijuwade.
A source in Ile-Ife also disclosed that all the heads of these
fraternity groups in the land which the monarch belonged to had been
communicated to start invoking their different gods and do what is
expected of them on the monarch’s issue.
The source hinted that at the shrines and forests of the deities, the
traditionalists had been assigned the type of job to do in relation to
the sacrifices that would be suitable for the transition of Sijuwade.
Sources at the palace who listed some of the deity headships that have
been assigned with one assignment or the other as Osogun, Obalara, Lana
and Emese, said they are all operating under “Isoro” deity which is the
father of all deities in the land.
He also gave the name of the head of Isoro deity as Obadio, saying he
is also in charge of dialect and languages of gods and goddesses of the
land.
Isoro is the custodian of all other deities, while Obalara is said to
be in charge of Obalufon shrine and Emese, who is supposed to spread
the news of the happenings, and had been reportedly told to be at alert
to carry out its own duty as well in a traditional way
