A British woman was raped before allegedly being strangled to death by her ex-husband, police have said.
Samia Shahid, from Bradford, was found dead in July in a village in Pakistan's eastern Punjab province.
Her death was assumed to be of natural causes and the 28-year-old was buried in a local cemetery.
But an inquiry was ordered after Ms Shahid's husband, Mukhtar Kazim, accused her family of killing her because she divorced her first husband in 2014 and married him.
It was concluded that Ms Shahid - who is of Pakistani origin - had been strangled and her first husband Mohammad Shakeel was detained as the prime suspect.
Police spokeswoman Nabila Ghazanfar said a forensic examination confirmed Ms Shahid was raped before her death.
Mr Kazim has also accused Ms Shahid's family of luring her back to Pakistan by claiming her father was critically ill.
The father has also been detained by police.
Ms Ghazanfar said a police chief has been suspended for mishandling the case and allowing Ms Shahid's mother and sister to leave the country.
She added investigators want them to return for questioning.
