Niger Delta Avengers has claimed it bombed Nembe 1, 2 and 3 trunk lines operated by Agip, Oando and Shell with supply capacity of 300,000 barrel per day in Bayelsa State.
The development came a few days after angry Niger Delta leaders, led by Chief Edwin Clark, scolded militants who blew up the Forcados export trunkline at Batan, Delta State.
In a correspondence yesterday by it spokesman, Muduch Aginibo, the group said: “ At about 11.45 p.m. on November 15, 2016, our Elite Strike Team 03 struck Nembe 1, 2 and 3 trunklines operated by Agip, Oando and Shell with supply capacity of 300,000 barrel per day to Bonny export terminal in Bayelsa State.
This is in response to the so-called “ Operations Sharkbite” an act of terrorism commissioned by the tyranny of the Nigerian Navy establishment and orchestrated by some elements of the ruling political class to continuously undermine any effort by the Nigerian state to addressing the legitimate demands of the people of the Niger Delta as well as a conspiracy to bloat the accounts of some security contractors and conflict merchants within the party structure of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We are only reiterating our strong resolve that time is running against the Nigerian government and that there is doom ahead. The Nigerian government needs our cooperation more than we need the government as it concerns the extraction of the crude oil and hydrocarbon resources in our God-given land. We are determined to continue this war by all means necessary, until that environment prevails for a genuine dialogue and negotiation within the framework of the 16-point key demand presented to President Muhammadu Buhari by PANDEF on the 1st of November 2016.”
Meanwhile, the Catholic Bishops Conference yesterday urged the Federal Government to tackle hate groups springing up nationwide.
Its president and Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most Rev Ignatius Kaigama, warned that several associations, like Boko Haram, were in their infancy in various, communities, noting that clipping religious extremism would save the country a lot of troubles.
Speaking on “The Catholic Church and Pentecostalism: Challenges in the Nigerian context in Abuja, Kaigama, commended government for fighting the Boko Haram sect and diminishing its capability. However, he lamented that insecurity was on the rise in parts of the country, especially the North Central and the South South geopolitical zones.

“ The violent attacks by Fulani herdsmen in different farming communities around the country and the Niger Delta Avengers have reared their ugly head. There are also increases in religion- motivated murder of innocent citizens, especially in Northern Nigeria, kidnapping and armed robbery.”
The cleric observed that the polarisation of the citizens along religious and ethnic lines have far-reaching adverse effects on the wellbeing of the nation.
He noted that Nigeria’s religious diversity, if properly harnessed, could foster unity and greatly contribute to nation-building.
Kaigama, therefore, called on Christian and Islamic leaders to encourage virtuous deeds that promote unity, peace and oneness.
