The Gunners boss agreed to a two-year deal at the Emirates this week but neither Sanchez or Ozil have signed new contracts in north London amid speculation they could leave ahead of the 2017/18 campaign.
Wenger will have over £100million to spend on signings this summer and the high-profile Arsenal duo were keen to get assurances from their managers towards the end of the season.
The Evening Standard suggest both sat down and discussed targets with the Frenchman, with a view to turning the side into genuine title contenders next term.
It’s understood the pair will wait to see how this strategy pans out before rushing into negotiations over their own contracts.
Arsenal’s failure to secure Champions League football has also led to Sanchez and Ozil increasing their wage demands.
Sanchez is believed to have been offered a deal worth around £300,000-a-week, while the club have tabled a £250,000-a-week contract for Ozil.
The Chilean is thought to be the more likely to move on in the coming months, with Bayern Munich eyeing a big-money bid.
